What are the dimensions of the head unit space in the D2?

It's a single DIN. A perfect fit head unit would be 50H x 178W x 97D mm.

Is that the size of the cassette deck, coz I know that bigger than a standard single din.

Those are the dimensions of the head unit that replaced the original on my D2. There's like a rectangular finisher at the bottom of the opening where the stereo goes but I'm not sure if it can be removed.

The Disco I'm buying today has the larger CD changer cassette deck. I'll measure it when I get home and try and see what I can do about a new head unit.

OK, so you must have the hi-line model, which I believe comes with the R990 unit. But I don't think you can fit a 2 DIN without doing work on the fascia. Maybe 1.5 DIN ?

IMO the size of the recess is the same on all modells regardless of equipment cos the difference between the fascia consoles is only about colours according to the part numbers
