Hi guys,
Probably a simple fix for most but I've never done a seat belt before and as the previous owners dog appeared to have chewed the ones in mine (not mentioned in the last four MOTs) it was one of the fail points on the MOT.
Two reclaimed ones off fleabay fitted today, fiddly but easy once I worked out how.
I had to improvise to get the trim fastenings out hence the pic of an electrical screw driver and one of SWMBO kitchen knives. You can buy the correct tool but I gently eased out the push-in plastic fastenings, placed vertically in the trim and popped off the cap of the posi-drive screw-in one.
I then used the screwdriver to ease off the plastic trim around the hole the belt goes into.
The lower bolt has a plastic cover on it so popped that off and undid the 17mm bolt. This has a metal spacer on the bolt.
Easing open the upper trim exposed the black plastic cover on the bolt holding the upper 'guide'. This cover is easily removed using a small screw driver to lever it off.
Not bending the trim too much still leaves room for a socket to undo the next 17mm bolt but be careful, the trim is easily broken/cracked.This bolt also has a metal tubular spacer, behind the belts guide.
Looking down behind the lower trim, there's a slim plastic guide for the belt that can be popped open using a screw driver, freeing the belt connector and allowing it to fall towards the inertial reel.
The reel itself is held by one 17mm bolt at it's base. My socket ratchet was too big but patience and a spanner frees this off.
Fitting the replacement one is simply the reverse of the above.
As I said, a easy enough job, especially for most on here but to a novice diy-er, straightforward and I hope this is of use to some one else like me.
Regards
Rob :)

Next on the list is maybe getting a garage too!!
