Hi folks.
Thinking about getting myself a centre diff as I've been embarrassed a few times recently in my D2 although I am truly amazed at how well it copes with the traction control alone.
Unfortunately mine is a 2004 so has not got the guts for the Ashcroft conversion.
I'm looking to swap for another box with all the cables etc attached then modify to fit.
Mines an auto so do I just need an LT230? Is there any difference between the manual and auto?
Can't see there being any difference but thought I'd ask before I source one!
There'll be no stopping her soon!
Also if anyone wants a part ex for a non diff lock box with 70k on it let me know!

No blanking plate on top where the lever comes through. Probably possible but would require machining of the housing etc

I believe LR started to phase out difflock from early 2000's but left the guts in with the spindle poking out of the top of the casing for the lever to attach to. from 2003 they stopped putting any of the equipment in and the top of the box was blank (not blanked off) so nothing to attach to without machining a hole in the casing.

Did you miss my post or you just want to ignore me though

Beg pardon? Thought I did reply? From 2003 (ish) onwards there is no way to fit diff lock. That kit only works with boxes that have a diff lock fitted but no cables/levers.
That Ashcroft system will not work with my transfer box.

Are you sure? IMO it's exactly for your kind of transfer box, at least that's what the description says.... the early boxes which dont have the linkage but have diff-lock dont need this kit only the linkage ...better read again the kit's description and check your TB's serial number

You can keep your existing transfer box and just swop the front output housing for one with diff lock from an earlier discovery like a 300tdi one.

Then you need linkage, either adapt the early 300 tdi one to fit or buy the Ashcroft cable linkage, it's expensive but easy fit and works well

Nope, I'm 100% sure. If I could work out how to post images I could show you, hard to describe with type.

I've told you how to do it, even without the internals in your box,
I know cos ive done it myself, upto you if you believe it

Must apologise, I accidentally quoted your message and hadn't even read it, somehow I missed it. That's some good info though thanks!
