BODMIN MOOR,KERNOW
Had a look around but no definitives.....

.....neighbour put a lump of concrete through my D1 98MY 300auto , hence I need to replace the glass . I understand that a bonded screen needs a wire saw or similar to remove...OK . The RRC looks like it will fir and that has an easier get-out on the donor . I believe the 200 is the same but lacks the fancy black surround (that I can live without!)...fine .

BUT ! Since I have the wiring loom for a heated front screen it would be nice to have one again....very handy in damp cornwall winter . So , did any of the RRCs have one ? Obviously later D1s had , I know cos I had one on a previous vehicle . And then , does a Td5 , D2 windscreen fit properly ? That would widen my search and buy parameters .

Before anyone mentions it , no Im not getting one on my insurance....Im lucky to HAVE insurance beccause I have claimed so much in recent years .

hi mr shocker , i wouldnt have thought they were interchangeable , i can ask a mate who breaks landies if he has one tomorrow

Hat , thanks , interested....courier to cornwall ? Anyone got comments on RRC fitting late D1 ?

JM , nice to hear from you , if you could ask , I'd be eternally etc

Albert...list price ? 300 ish for plain glass....full kit about 1200 , before any discounts

ouch !! can see why your looking 2nd hand , good luck

RRC is fitted in rubber and fairly easy to remove but D1 id direct glazed (bonded) and needs to be installed correctly with primers etc. The RRC screen does not have the black ceramic band which isn't there to make it look nice; it protects the urethane against degradation by UV light.
On top of that, it is almost impossible to re-use the four trims on the D1 from the old screen when fitting the replacement.
I am in the windscreen trade and have a D1 as a weekend toy and had to replace screen and trims last year.
Please don't try to cut corners with the fitting; it's quite a specialist process to do it safely and ensure that it doesn't leak.

Thankyou , SB , for a real , intrade response..... but since the vehicle is to be used mainly on the farm and maybe 3 times a year on road , well , in a word , SIKAFLEX

It doesn't make any difference which urethane that you use, whether it's Sikaflex, Dow or any other make, it will not stick to the bare unprinted glass from an RRC.
