Cyclone Separator part no. 11127799367.

Just fitted one to my misses 2006 SE and by god it makes a huge differance, infact a bloody lot. The old filter was caked in oil, well it was soaking wet to be honest and also the EGR is caked in thick oil which I wiped for the time being.

The next thing Im going to do is do the actual EGR mod from the sticky here and grab a Synegy to help with the MPG, but Im hoping that just changing the soaking wet clogged up filter helps with the MPG and heating.

Thanks all for the tips, advice.

Regards

If it helps i did the same thing, replaced the PCV filter with the BMW part, cleaned the EGR out (left it in place) new air filter (std Britpart jobbie) and fitted a synergy, whilst the synergy certainly improves the pickup and gives more power it has done nothing for the economy, the difference with cleaning the EGR out with degreaser (bilt hamber stuff is the bollox) PCV filter and air filter was a lot, the synergy was just the (in my view) expensive icing on the cake, please dont get me wrong, i am not saying it is not any good - i was just hoping for more than i got...

I cleaned the EGR today and blanked the pipe off feeding the EGR and it didnt do anything at all, in fact I put it back on and the car felt better under foot.

Cleaned the air filter with the vacume cleaner because it looked brand new si I left that in place.

Also I now find the heaters blow a lot hotter, dont know if the new Cyclone helped or if its just me.

Regards and thanks.

PS,

May try the synergy route but thats another day.

Cleaning the EGR will make a big difference. The reason most peeps take it out is because it grots up quickly again. If you dont mind cleaning the EGR regularly it probably helps to keep it in.

My EGR is out and bypassed, Synergy 1 and cyclone seperator fitted. MPG remains about 30.

What difference did it make?

I can see how it will improve crank breathing and prevent pressure build up, but I can't see how it would make any performance improvement.

im glad its not just me who thinks this about the synergy and economy, dont get me wrong, my car is runnin like an absolute dream and ive done abit more to the engine to make it that way, my fuel economy aint brilliant but at the same time its liveable, i put alot of it down to the pure cost of the fuel to start with, but the way some peeps go on about the synergy, i just dont know, its good, but like elvis says, i think i was expectin more:5bauto:

What I mean is before I changed the breather the car would be sluggish on pull off and the heaters would blow luke warm.

Now it goes like a rocket from the start and the heaters now blow bloody hot.

Fantastic.

Dont smoke M8 sorry to disapoint you.

But all i've done is change the filter, cleaned out the EGR and thats it, bore I did all that the heaters would just blow luke warm now they blow a great deal more heat.

o you tell me why them or have you been on the pipe :hippie:

heaters blowin hotter????, u been on the pipe:hippie:

Cleaning out that EGR pipe may well have made a noticable difference,
but I don't see how changing to the cyclone type crankase breather would have given the result you experience

I wouldn't buy that, looks like some fooker made it in his shed:doh:

This is the better type Landrover Freelander EGR TD4 Bypass kit Stainless Ste on eBay (end time 26-Jan-11 23:49:51 GMT) or the black version from "dansam0502" but he doesn't have any up at the mo

Yes, that 1st one is missing the small tube to put the (obsolete) vacuumtube on as well as the part to connect the cooling tube jubilee thing in the back.

Glad your heater's working properly now. :)
Fitting the new crankcase breather is always a good move.
Do you ever fink that there might be somefink in these longer runs that may be clearing some airlocks in the TD4 ?? :der:
