Hello
A lot of you are prob familiar with my l322
2006 3.6 tdv8, 171k miles
Started noticing it throws out quite a bit of grey smoke under part load
Only does it under load within first mile or so of driving. More noticeable when im leaving work, get to the motorway island and have to accelerate up the slip road
Like its clearing its throat, then its fine. Sometimes get a lumpy idle on a warm start. Not cold, not hot just...warm. clears sfter a few seconds.
No lumpy running when driving, pulls well, no untoward turbo noise. No faults on dash and no error codes on icarsoft. Nothing else at all to cause concern
Coincides with increase in fuel consumption (23 mpg on trip computer, now down to 18)
Would appreciate some ideas on where to look first, I have ordered a bottle of forte diesel system cleaner as had good results when my 3.0tdi audi threw an emissions light and egr insufficient flow code.
Worth mentioning that it has 2 leaky cam cover gaskets and looking at egr commanded and actual values at idle shows 1 egr jumping around the 43-50% commanded and actual and the other staying stable around 45%.
Egr valve?
Injector leaking back and diesel being burnt out of the cylinder?
Oil getting past cam cover gasket internally and burning off?
Turbo seals?
Any ideas welcome, also guidance on how to test. I'd like to start simple
