hi everyone i was just wondering whats the best way to fit a cubby box in a 90. it appears to have been ripped from the previous vehicle with no consideration for the new owner what so ever. i have no middle seat or frame in place?:confused: :confused:

Screw it to a piece of wood with some bolts allready inserted into it, then drill the holes through the seatbox in the right place, fit some nyloc nuts and your done... i recommend 4 bolts ;)

Ok, being a total novice at anything remotely technical, can someone advise me please. I have a cubby box which needs fixing down. 110womans 11 year old told me how to do it, but I can't work out how to fit the batons to the metal plate bit which would have been under the centre seat. What do I need? I have searched this site but everyone says 'fit the batons to the plate!' I don't know how :eek:

nuts and bolts some go right through box bottom ,spacers and panel ,others have your batons bolted to panel and then box screwed to them after

Am about to carry out this very task on my 110 and this is how I will go about it;

1. I'm going to use 18mm thick ply wood for the rails and I will give them 2 good coats of Oil-Based undercoat. MDF has a knack of expanding when it gets damp!

2. On one side of the ply wood, drill through in 2 places to allow you to put the bolts that will hold your cuddy box down - you will need to counter-sink the holes on both sides and put a nut on each bolt, so it all sits flush on the metal plate and the cuddy box sits flush on the ply. Paint the holes with undercoat to keep it all sealed up.

3. You now have 2 choices - you can either remove the plate and drill through both the ply and metal plate (countersink again so it is all flush) or use a decent size Self Tapping screw to hold it all down - I'm doing it the first way and putting some gutter seal on the ply face that sits on the metal plate to give both extra 'stick' and also reduces any squeak...

4. You will now have 2 bits of ply, bolted / screwed to the metal plate with 4 bolts poking up through so you can now use nylon lock nuts to bolt your cuddy box down.

Hopes this makes sense - will do some pics when I do the job

i've made a wooden box on the plate. the wooden box of the cubby fits nicely over it. This was i can still take it off and remove the plate to say hi to my gearbox and hand brake :)

Thanks guys, believe it or not this is a big job for me as I am a proper girlie and never tinkered with this sort of stuff before :rolleyes:. I will get the bits needed (nuts, bolts, batons etc) and give it a go - what's the worse that could happen ;)

Or you could do what I did for a year or so and just put it there annd not fit it at all and hust hold it on tight bends or steep inclines :D

As I'm going to do this very task, I will be powering up the saw bench to cut the ply - if you want a couple of them, let me know.

I'm tempted to ask psulli to help but I will give it a go first. Your lad explained it to me last weekend - maybe he could fit it ;)

not fitted mine yet, but i think im gonna put rivnuts into my centre panel and then bolt the box down to those.
