Hi all,
This question has probably been asked before but I can"t for the life of me find the answer.
I want to fit Cruise Control to my 2003 TD4 SE Automatic. What exactly will I need and is it a job a not that mechanically minded person like me can carry out?
cheers

first check if the wiring is there take the top of you steering wheel and you should see the extra wires then on the right at the bottom of the dash is either a blanking plate or some switch already there for something else then under the drivers seat you will see a slot in the carpet fell under the carpet and if the wire is there you will find it this is for the cruise control ecu.so you need the ecu but NOT the one with v6 on then the switch on the bottom of the dash and then the paddle switches on the steering wheel right hand side ,but as said if the wires are not there then it is no use going any further but one point get a second hand ecu .

hi mate

I fitted cruise control to mine and a few have also done it

if u do a search for cruise control hopefully it should come up as it will list all the parts u need

as far as I know u can't fit cc to a manual, lol

u will as teddy has said need to firstly check the wiring is there

on some of the facelift models for some reason they didn't include the extra wiring , mines a 2002 td4 auto

is a diy install, make sure u but a second hand ecu that goes underneath the seat , will then be all plug and play

need a master dashboard switch.
extra cruise control paddles for ur steering wheel
ccu that's goes underneath ur seat , u can also buy the bracket to fix it to the floor

let us know how u get on, went into this in great detail , so if u get stuck give us a shout

gary

Tnx, my also TD4 02 Kalahari :) When i solve remote lock i go to cruise control, hope that I find all parts here in Serbia.

when I fitted mine 2006 td4 auto it had the wires so did not take long the hardest part was cutting the hole out of the steering wheel and that was not to hard just made a paper template first. but when I came to work it ,it was different to a factory fitted one , first switch the switch on then press bottom button to switch the whole thing on and this will light up the light on the dash then press set , to switch it off just take foot of gas for a second and flip bottom button and the light on the dash will go out , but it will not switch on again until you have switched the main switch off then back on , I do not know if this is the same for every after fit but this is how mine works but once you know it is no problem.

That's because that setup is the BMW style (which has different switch setup)

The engine ecu needs coding to say it has cruise control and then works as per the handbook.

mines the same , wrong way round in other words, lol

the radio paddles also work the wrong way round as well

like u say needs recoding to switch them round to the correct way

know u looked into this a while back and found out why they worked opposite

think quite a few have done this now , in fitting the oem cruise control kit

mines the same but like u have just got useto it

haven't bothered as I'm not prepared to spend out £60 quid or so to get it plugged into the local dealers pc

ref the steering wheel I cheated and bought a second hand steering wheel complete with radio and cruise control paddles already fitted , lol
