Hi Folks
I saw on e.bay a kit that allows you to fit cruise control to your disco, I have a 2001 td5 manual, the advert said all the parts needed ar supplied in kit and should take less than an hour to fit , I was wondering if anyone has done this and doeas it work?
Many thanks, Andy:welcome2:

The kit is fairly expensive. I paid just about £40 pounds for the two switches needed. What you cannot buy alone is a small bracket. So £75 for the kit means they are charging you £35 for a small metal bracket.

The job took me about an hour and a half and the majority of that time was fashioning the metal bracket. You can copy the bracket that holds the radio controls on the other side of the wheel.

Works imediately you've fitted it and you'll wonder why they didn't fit it to all Disco2's .

Does any one know how much LR charged for Cruise as an option when new?

Regards

That depends on model year, in 2001 it was a £225 option but only on the Td5, it's standard on the V8.

HI , URBAN PANZERS LINK, IS VERY CLEAR , MY MATE HAS A DISCO 1 3.9 V8 AUTO FACELIFT BREAKING , WHICH HAS CRUISE CONTROL, WOULD THIS BE A STRAIGHT FIT FOR MY DISCO1 300TDI es, ??

I've done it, I think my kit cost about 60 snakes off e-blag, realy easy to fit just take care you don't trap the air bag wires (they clip onto the back of the centre hub) when you put the centre of the steering wheel air bag bit back!

does that mean no fit at all or will fit with a bit of modification????

No it wont fit at all, the Disco 1 both TDi and V8 use a vacum pump system / control cable to actuate the cruise, with the Disco 2 TD5 its all done by the ECU electronically, which is why they are all wired for it and its just "plug and play"
