hey guys 'n gals

My landy (52 TD4 ES) has been badly spewing out blue smoke when cold or if idling for a while, then you take off. Browsing around here it sounded like EGR or crankcase breather. I did the EGR (which was pretty bad but not as bad as some pics I've seen here!), but still was getting blue smoke. Today I went to replace the crankcase breather filter (which was absolutely disgusting!! dont think its ever been replaced). I'm hoping this will solve the problem.

But....the reason for the post! I couldn't easily get the housing unit out without disconnecting one of the hoses at the front of it. I thought it would be similar to the hose on the EGR unit - so tried to slide it off. oops! Instead of sliding off, it's snapped off!

So...my question is twofold. 1. What is this pipe for, and 2. can I just super glue it back on until I can get it replaced? Really wanting to get it back on the road, but dont want to super glue and then have it fail on me.

Suggestions welcome. Why is it I didn't listen to myself when pulling at it and thinking "I hope this doesnt snap off"

It's the injector leak off pipe or spill pipe. It carries diesel used to cool and lubricate the injectors back to the tank. I don't recommend you try to repair it, if the repair fails there will be fuel everywhere.

I'm not sure but I think LR only sell the plastic bits with the pipe set and not separate. You should remove the spring clip by the way and lift the connector out of the top of the injector.

Maybe a diesel specialist could supply just the plastic bit?

Thanks for the reply chaser. Really annoyed at myself!! Dont suppose you have any idea what the part is actually called? Just trying to have a look to see what it's going to cost me. Fingers crossed they stock it locally, but I suspect not :(
