Hi
I have been rebuilding my TD5 over the last year and posted several time. I need some advice at what to do now!!!
I changed head gasket and ran the car for 5 months perfect until the steering pump went . Changed that and the water pump (with some issues) and now everything back together. Changed the viscous fan and have the system fully charged and running well.

Until yesterday. Driving home and over heated. The engine seems to be super hot and slowly the temp got until limp mode. Switched off and let off some steam . Temp went back down and ran perfect for about 25 mins and again overheated.

I would have said the head gasket has gone if I hadn't changed it and already ran the car for a few months. Could this be an air lock? Cracked head? Im going to bleed the system again and run it / If then I bleed it again there is air I'm assuming the head is cracked for some reason.

Also would it be worth trying to tightenn head bolts? I torqued them to the correct level with the final angle gauges.

Or should i get the head off again and see what's going on inside as getting a bit fed up now of the whole over heating problems

Thanks in advance

john

Did you fill and bleed the system properly with tank raised above the bleeder after the water pump was changed also is the tank's cap in good shape and tightened to max.?

when it overheats the top hose is rock solid ? if not maybe a proper bleeding and new tank cap woul be a good ideea before anything else.

Yes that's what I though. But its strange that everything worked perfect for 5 months and now this has happened. I think the head must have a crack in it
