Hi all
With the frost returning, I have recently put a wind screen cover on in the evenings to prevent ice in the mornings. I attached the cover by opening the doors and have the cover trapped in the doors. This set off the alarm so I strapped the cover on to the side mirrors. This has still set off the alarm. Is there movement sensors inside the car or why does the alarm go off when I put the cover on. The car is a 2006 TD4.
Many thanks in advance
Martin

Hi,

Yes, there are movement sensors built into the interior mirror housing.

Locking the car with the remote key-fob sets them.

So that you can lock the car with a dog in it for example, the car can be locked without activating the sensors if you use the key in the driver's door instead of the key-fob button.

Instructions in the owner's handbook.

If you don't have a handbook get back to me and I'll give you a link to where you can get one on-line free.

Hi Sinngvogel i bought my freelander without a hand book could you please post the link thanks.

No problem frontosa, :)

It's on the International LandRover info site which is free to register.

You get free access to handbooks for every LandRover ever made (they say) and fitting instructions for all LR accessories and options.

Put in your VIN number and you will have access to the owners section where you get on-line handbooks, ICE instructions etc.

Some folks complain that you can't access the workshop manuals and all the dealer service/repair info for free, but I have found it a useful site. It even tells you the day your Freelander was built and when it was first registered.
