Right i have a 4.6 hse which is on LPG firstly i get severe backfiring at times which is 1, very annoying and 2, embarssing! any suggestions? i keep hearing that the RV8 does do this on the older gas system which i have but it cant be as bad as i have it surely???

Second problem is that as i switch to gas usually with in only a few second i get gearbox fault flash up and the gear change becomes quite aggressive. If i switch back to petrol its perfect! any help?

The car is generally running ok but something is just not quite right. It will somethimes cut out at junctions then other times its perfect? Im gonna give it a full service in a week or two and try and find someone to set up the gas, but just thought id ask incase of common probs?

Cheers

ive just developed a problem where the engine will not go above 2500rpm on gas, i have however been fidling with the water system so i dunno if the gas is low or water is not reaching the gas valve properly, it was fine till i started messing.

on the back firing issue, you would need to get it set up correctly as this is probably the cause, mine has the older single point system and is generally fine but has the odd spat where it will backfire. mine has had the airbox removed and a 'boy racer' type filter fitted instead.

Mine has the same 'boy racer' filter fitted mate. I would imagine the airbox was blown to pieces long ago? Ill get it booked in and get it set up as its annoying me now. Just doesnt make sense to me about the gearbox fault only being on gas?????

thats probably wiring issue with the lpg system bringing the fault up, do check the transmission fluid level tho just to be on the safe side. i dont really know enough about rangies as i have had mine two months, i only know the stuff ive done so its just basic logical stuff!!

the fault on mine was low fuel, the 5 led gauge is crap, and has got better since the fill up earlier.

let us know how you get on cos no doubt someone else will haqve the same fault sooner or later!!!

p38's are a good car to learn on as they develop some odd faults!!
