several clunks and grinding noises when turning not even on full lock... the a creaking and grinding noise when i'm driving at 20mph in a straight line...

how difficult is the job to replace a diff and what symptoms do i have to look out for to replace the whole axle.....

as i suspect the garage will try that!!

CV joints? Swivel bearings? Wheel bearings? Propshaft u/j's? Steering ball joints, bushes? Could be a number of things probably not yer diff.

I kind of hoped that would Not be an answer... but I get your point...

I can see the dollar signs and the bank notes leaving my dwindling account and heading to the garage mechanic ...

who is smiling as he has now got this years holiday paid off in full....

I only hope its a weekend in Bognor regis and not a world cruise that i'm paying for....

Hi
I have a rear diff for sale if you require one. Off a 1993 disco 2.5 litre 200 TDI £95.00p It's not that difficult to change (Get new nuts) just awkward and heavy in a confined space unless you have access to a pit.
Because of the weight collection only
Cheers

Mate bought a 300tdi on friday night it was advertised in the local rag for £895 he beat him down to £450 T&T 2"lift BFG's on Alloys Cranked radius arms the works. Fooking bargin

Woh there a minute. I am local to bedford and quite competent with landy axles. Now I dont want to go spoiling anybodys holiday but I am much cheaper and can do the work at yours or mine. Sling me your details via PM and we can arrane something.

okay folks

I have put the disco into the garage unfortunately I did not get a chance to log in and see discobasher's reply...

I would gladly have used your services

The garage have dented my own Holiday which starts this saturday to the ripe old tune of £260 for a cv joint and track rod end plus labour Vat..

The 400 cups of tea.... bacon sandwiches all round and the latest copy of razzle magazine

Now I can hear you all saying my fault for not logging in everyday...

my only defence albeit a rather weak one is that I commute everyday into London on the M1 so i do not have the luxury most week nights...

I told you it was weak....

A big thanks to Disco basher and I shall definately ask your services in the future... at this rate the thing also needs the boot floor replacing the usual disco dilema....
