A mate wants to use an air con compressor to run equipment on his Disco - wot size air tank does he need - he said air tools, but I dont think the pump is gonna be man enough.

Any yu peeps dun it and wot yu got?

no good using air con pump as it has gas/ oil mix straight air and bearings and seals will hang out.

you could however use a magnetic clutch to turn on and off

Gonna need a 100 ltre tank minimum and that's not really good enough, 150 litres good 200 litres very good.:)

I am about to fit a RR Classis Suspension air tank approx 250mm x 500mm Whan he said air tools it does depend on how long I have worked out that if my engine ac unit engaged I should be able to undo my wheel nuts change a wheel redo wheel nuts move to next wheel and continue without much of a wait mabe 20 or 30 seconds in between @150PSI. If the tank is fully charged before you start @150 PSI with a regulator set at 100PSI. It will be because I will drive to a comp turn on before I get there. arrive book in, change tyres play and change them back. If he wants anything above 5 CFM for periods above 20 second bursts or 1/5th minute or equlivent to using 1 CFM of air he will need a serious tank me thinks air tools use a hell of alot of air if used constantly.

you will need an inline oiler and a coalescing filter is used to stop moisture and oil from getting to your tyres. The bigger the tank the better but you have to be practical aswell

I have a plan to use a 70l lpg tank as a resoviour for my airtools.I have the thought i could run drills etc for granite gateposts.I think it will have hoeslock type connections at the front and back under the bodywork somewhere.I dunno weather to run it off the aircon pump or go eletric.Id kinda earmarked the aircon pump for a hydraulic winch.

Would an old propane bottle work as a cylinder?

surley a couple of PAS pumps will be more than enough to run a hydrraulic winch at some speed i'd keep the aircon for air personally
