Hi everyone,

I've been away from range rovers for 2 years but I miss them so want another one !! The reason I got rid of mine is I lost confidence in it as I had issues with the engine, resulting in hoses blowing off, radiator and water pump issues and ending with head gaskets being done !! I had LPG and always wondered if that was why I was having all these issues. I want another one but it would have to have LPG as I can't afford to be doing 17mpg on petrol. So, the questions I have are:

What L322 is best to get?
Is there an issue with the BMW M62 4.4 engine as I've heard there maybe (perhaps the jaguar engine is better) ?
Is LPG dodgy as my local garage always said that cars are designed for petrol not gas?

Any help and advice appreciated
Cheers,
Redfreddie

I think the 4.4 on LPG will be cheaper on fuel than a diesel, don't the diesels do about 24mpg ? I roughly worked out last time that I'd been getting about the equivalent of 28mpg on LPG with cost of LPG against petrol

bmw on lpg is fine.

goggle evo magazine. they did an m5, and would suggest you use the same people if money works.
jag engine? don't do LPG.

cheers.

Bmw lump is fine on LPG, it's the jag engine that doesn't like it.

Diesel engine is pretty good, if you don't want too much power that you'd get from a v8. I get 24 around town and 28 on a run

Some get over 30 on a run !!

Thanks for the replies, I wasn't aware that the Jag engine wasn't good for LPG conversions so that is good to know. I'm looking at a few on eBay so watch this space ! Maybe I just bought one before with a bad engine, I'll give it another go 😊

Jag's AJV8 suffers Valve Seat regression issues...

I have the BMW M62TUB44 on a BRC Sequent Gas system and it runs a dream...it does have a flashlube system fitted but is not strictly necessary....I get 15.1mpg from mine with a good mix of town and motorway.

My 735 uses the M62TUB35 engine and that has an OMVL Dream XXi-N system fitted but no Flashlube and that runs lovely too...albeit it throws the EML due to lambda issues once in a while!

I have the L322 4.4 (2003 with 104k miles) with LPG and apart from some non gas related issues, it has run like a dream. I've done trips down to southern Spain and had no issues with LPG at all. I get the equivalent of 30-35 to the gallon at petrol pump prices. My gas tank costing about £45+- to fill, does 220 miles.

Mines take around 70-73 litres to fill and get around 200-230 miles to tank of LPG.
Only issues I've had was badly routed pipes that wore through against the inner wing. Dash implies 15.8 MPG
