I seem to have the usual problem with cold starting - using my 90 only at weekends. I'm sure I've read somewhere (probably previous posts) that a 2nd battery earth improves things. Is this true??

If so:

1] how does it help?
2] where should it be attached/any areas to avoid?
3] any specification on the cable?

Cheers

What is the actual cold starting issue you have? Does it turn over well but just not catch or does it turn over slow and sluggish?

Have you got timed glow plugs or manual timing (key based) glow plug setup?

If you have manual control over timing, keep the glow plugs energized for 20 seconds before turning over, and keep foot away from gas pedal

We still don't know what his starting issue is, if he is talking about new earth cables I would expect its a sluggish starter motor at this point.

Same problem with my td5 90. Done some wet and muddy lanes on Sunday it started fine Wednesday , went to use it Thursday seemed like just not enough power to fire, have recharged battery and starter just clicking so maybe a whack on the starter to see if that sorts it, just noticed small rubber grommit is missing so maybe got **** inside starter

Don't you need sun for that SH? :p

Where I am I get excited when it climbs over 13 centigrade:D

Giving a serious answer just for OP's benefit - thankfully it works in even weak daylight and the rain:). That said, have never bothered to test how the voltage/current varies in different light - maybe one day when i'm truly at a lose end:cool:

Can you actually tell the difference between having it hooked up and not?

I can only tell the difference after a few weeks of not using my landy.

To be honest no - was something i bought early on knowing that I'd usually only use the Landy at weekends - kinda preventative rather than cure!

That said, battery hasn't let me down yet (yes - everythign crossed as I type that:D)
