how long did they rev it for before trying the test, as the cat has to be stinking hot, one way of testing if the cat has anything left inside is to take the temp at the front of the cat and one at the rear the front should be higher than the rear if not its feked

no idea how long i was in the waiting room other side of building, il have to find a themometer to do that one, lol, hopefully that not what it is,

its crazy, if they want us to meet strict emission controls they should provide feel fault diagnosis after failing, thats my belief Bxxxxxxds

Took mine for a 4th gear blast up a dual carriageway before M.O.T. test this year as I was caught out last year, I do a lot of town and local journeys, passed with ease this time.

wouldn't be putting cooking oil in a petrol !!!!!

try redex and stuff maybe? How far over the pass limit was it?

As above redex or similar but you could always invest in an LPG system...mine never gets above 0.2% of allowed emmisions even with straight through pipes

First of all find a better garage the will keep retesting it till it passes. Its all down to the temp of the cat. Take it on a run to get it hot and i mean roasting not a 5 min run round the block. My mums got a ford escort and normally it takes at least 3 or 4 attempts before it passes because its only used on short runs so the cat never gets up to temperature
