clutch is stiff today, stopped working on A1 near black cat, managed to get to work without.
clutch fluid was a bit low, halfway between min and max...

had new borg and beck 2 years ago, changed the cltch fork for a reinforced one then also

any ideas?

seems like hydraulic failure presumably the slave cylinder cos it's more common but could be the master too...anyway it's a good practice to replace them both cos a new one will stress the other old one's seals and it will fail soon as well

when you say it stopped working how do you mean? where you able to press the pedal? or was it solid? if you were not able to push the pedal I would be looking at the pedal assembly for any seized pivot points or the return spring getting jammed. if no luck there I would be suspecting the hydraulic system i.e. try gravity bleeding it and renewing the fluid (it's only standard dot4 brake fluid) if you have trouble bleeding/changing fluid I would be suspecting that the pipework has got blocked. if it bleeds fine then the slave cylinder may have corroded enough to make the piston seize and so before it seizes with the clutch disengaged get it changed.

hope this helps you source the gremlin and give it the boot.

If you get stranded around the black cat to huntingdon area then give me a shout and I may be able to come out to you to at least tow you to a safer area or even home or bring some gaffer tape and cable ties to get you on your way again

yeah the pedal moved, but no clutch. topped up and is better but still not right...
ok, so new fluid..with a gravity bleed...change slave anyway?

that system is sealed, as long as the reservoir wasnt empty and no visible leak there's no way of air getting in... replace the cylinder but i say again the best way is to change them both.... then you can put your mind to rest for few 10k miles

UPDATE:
New fork in, new slave in...
Took bloody ages to pull through some fluid....don't know if it was our technique, or there is something buggered with the master cylinder?
I have about 2inches of travel before there is any pressure....could the master cylinder be f**ked or should i not worry??
