My clutch pedal assembly is quite sloppy in the pivots and I wanted to tighten up some of the free play in it which I did, it now has a small about of free travel (about the required amount) but the bite point is very high. It always has been, had a new clutch this time last year but removing the slop seems to have pushed it slightly higher, though it seems to engage fully and not slip. Pedal is set at roughly the correct height, maybe 5mm too high.

Is best/correct way to lower the bite point more to the middle to add extra shims to the slave cylinder? Eventually I'll probably replace the whole pedal assembly to get rid of the slop in the linkages, if I did so I would probably look to replace it with the assist spring type, is SKB500280 a straight fit into a 200TDi?

I think the pedal is mostly adjusted up right, 140mm pedal height floor to bottom edge (possibly 5mm too high) with a bit under a cm of free play, play in the assembly made it a little hard to precisely measure the free play between the pedal and pushrod but it has at least the 1.5mm I think.

Is it a case of adding or removing shims to lower bite? If adding do you know the part number? Thanks.
