I decided to do my Rear Crankseal on Tuesday. Got it all done and dusted, went out and drove it today...

Clutch "Works" fine (I.e I can change gear fine ect ect) however when i depress the pedal, it feels extremely rough and quite stiff. Same clutch as before (Few months old, no point in changing it.) Only thing i did change was the Thrust bearing as i had been given a NOS Land Rover one, and decided that would be better than the britpart relase bearing that was on there.

Any ideas? If i need to take the box out i will not be happy

could be anything like.. not enough grease on the bearing shaft or the bearing itself moved out of position while installing the box. but it seems the problem is whatever you moved or changed ...

Dry input shaft so release bearing is binding.

Tis a really strange problem as first thing in the morning it is fine, but as it warms up it gets worse, so i suspect you're idea of a dry input shaft is correct.

Would you reckon I could grease (With a Spray Grease and long "Straw") the input shaft through the slave cylinder hole? Really do no want to take the box out again!

If not, I might try tapping a whole for a wading plug (No hole for it on a TD) amd grease it whilst getting my assistant to pump the pedal.

My td 90 has a wading plug hole but its not in the right place to spray the input shaft. If you are going to try this a small hole in the bellhousing above the inputshaft could be a better bet, fill with self tap after.

realesae brg guides come dry when new i doubt unless it was heavily worn more likely lever isnt either fitted to brg or pivot properly

I had the same problem on my old series IIa and it was because I cleaned the shaft and assembled it dry. Only way to sort it was to take it all off and smear some copper grease on the shaft where the bearing slides. Dont go mad with the stuff as you dont want it contaminating the clutch.

Also I would not be happy spraying any sort of lubricant into the bell housing unless I could be sure it was going exactly where I wanted it.
