Hi,

I was out in my 300tdi 90 at the weekend and the clutch failed-I drove part way home with no clutch and it was slipping a bit. It then started working about half way home but with a low biting point. Occasionally over the past few months the pedal has got stuck down, but I could return it manually and it would then be fine. Is it likely to be the clutch itself that has failed or could it be the master or slave that's failed? The clutch doesn't have many miles on it.

Thanks

Could be the slave - easy to change.

Undo the 10mm headed bolts equally and carefully, don't be tempted to pull the push rod out of the bell housing.

Change master/slave and flex pipe, cheap enough and you will then know if the clutch itself is good.

Pay attention to the link provided here. TRW is the brand you want for master and slave, not some no/cheap-name pattern part that will only last a couple of months.
