My freelander 1 TD4 has developed a whine when i push the clutch pedal down, but soon as i release it the whine disappears,any idea what this could be. It cant be the propshaft as its been removed.

Clutch release bearing most likely.

If the noise is only there when the clutch pedal in down, then it's most likely to be the concentric release bearing.
