Hi all,

My 2001 TD4 appears to have developed a clutch judder whilst under acceleration. I have checked my engine oil level and this is well below the max mark on the dipstick. I assume that the engine oil is leaking onto the clutch plate, hence the judder.

Can anyone confirm that this could be the cause and if so potential cost of getting it sorted?

Cheers.

may be oil on the plates but more likely to be the flywheel, the flywheel is composite (similar to the main belt pulley) which includes a bonded rubber bush/insert the idea being to make the power take up smoother and less harsh to the engine. When the rubber gets soft(pappy) it can cause clutch judder. cost, well theres a thing! clutch and release bearing around £400 - £500, clutch + flywheel anywhere from £800 - £1200. I had my clutch done last year and didn't need the flywheel much to the surprise of my local independant mech.
