Evening eveyone, step dad borrowed my fender the other day, came back with the cluch pedal only going down half way? Still engages the cluch so is drive able. Don't know where to start really any ideas? Cheers chris

Sorry for the delay. We bled the system and it made no difference so we changed the slave cylinder still no difference. But yeah it goes hard like a brake pedal. It's an 87 with a 200tdi conversion. I changed the clutch and put a heavy duty release arm in when I changed the engine

I thought that might be the case really hoping it wasn't though. Engine easier to take out than the gear box?

My personal experience is box out is easier. Floors out, crane in lower box.
I don't see why people say take engine out its just more work

Took me gear box out tonight to have a look, know its been a while but I carried on driving it here and there until I had chance. Just slipped the gear box back giving me enough room to get my hand in, quite easy actually did it pretty much by myself. Anyway turns out that the release bearing is ####ed! Good old britpart lasted a thousand miles. It was seized solid and the plastic had melted and compressed it, will get some pics up tomorrow

Looks a little something like this

I know I went off roading once rest of the time was round town so a thousand miles I redic. Don't really understand what's caused this though. Ordered a heavy duty one today though

Well the new one has just arrived and its ****part again, hopefully being the heavy duty one it will be alright. I wish paddocks would make it more clear which parts are britpart, or stop using them altogether

I would rather not lol, it's an aluminium one so surely it can't fail like that again?
It's this one FTC5200HD | Clutch release bearing - Heavy Duty
Had a quick search around the forum before I ordered it and someone was raving about it?
