Right after more advice from you gents.

I,ve noticed the last few nights on the return home a clunking comming from the back end. It only occurs after accelerating hard in 2nd or 3rd gear and i've backed of the accelerator!

Now it has new props all round and there recently been greased. I,m thinking more along the line of the rear diff. Oil change is first on the cards on pay day, however is the rear diff at all adjustable , the diff has a sealed rear face, so i,m thinking thats a no?

Next could it be the transfer box again oil change is first on the cards but again waiting to payday.

I have noticed the rear trailing arms are slightly bent so to me that says the rear axle is out of line could this be a factor in ma "clunk"?

as allways i,m looking for any advice or direction!

the list of jobs on this thing is longer than ma arms!

A frame balljoint probably

Daz

Daz i,ve got a recipt for that being replaced within the last 18 months. that was my first port of call, however i,m quickly learning with this 90 that some of the previous workman ship is to be fair ****e!

I,ve new trailing arms on route so there first then i,ve a spare a-frame bush from work. Is there an easy way to repalce or is it quicker to take out the tub floor?

agree a frame ball joint or bushes... could be a cheap aftermarket one but not necessarily britpart or some britpart lovers will be asking to lock the thread and whining like bitches on heat :) lol

cheers steve

Is it lifted? that is why your trailing arms are bent. They should be both the same  As said A frame ball joint or wheel bearings? Any play in the wheels?

mick nah mate shes normal ride height, wheel bearings are good, When i say the trailing arms are bent there not very obvious only when you get her up on a lift can you see them.

And?
If it was a ****part one, 18 months is good!

the replacement one i,ve got is landrover original, seems a **** to change. gonna have her up tomorrow doing the ball joints so i,ll have another gander.

is there a nack to doing the aframe ball joint?

You might be better replacing it with an adjustable ball joint so you can adjust the slack out of it - without having to change it often

Daz

normally good for 150k + so change often isn't an issue, they are on a taper so adjustment is to tighten anyway..

the adjustable ones i've come across are on a screw thread to move axle rearwards when severely lifted, also normally a rose joint to give more movement

what have u come across that allows 'slack adjustment' more than the taper that the ball joint already has??? some are greasable but thats not 'adjustment' and can help prolong the ball and that may be a help before tightening

interested as my fender being built has a 15" lift and needs all the help i can muster

cheers steve
