Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and new to the brand. Hoping someone can give advice...

I've just brought a 2010/60 plate Range Rover Vogue TDV8 (50k miles)... Ive been driving it for about 2 weeks now and have on occasion been hearing, albeit very intermittently, a clunk/pop type sound when turning right (mainly at junctions, it sounds almost like a CV boot popping) very occasionally it'll make the sound when going over the middle of a smallish speed hump. It doesnt do it at all when turning left. It's quite audible from inside the cabin and from outside, yet when staitionary and the wheel is turned right it doesn't do it! It doesn't always do it on the move though, for example it last occurred for no good reason a couple of days ago, then typically when I took it to the dealership yesterday it wouldn't make a sound. It's very frustrating!

I recorded the sound but service said they couldn't diagnose it without the sound reoccurring for them. Nevertheless, they inspected underneath for anything obvious, worn or loose and apparently all was in good order. Im puzzled...Could it be suspension related? Or something else? Any helpful suggestion as to what could cause such an intermittent clunk sound when turning on right lock would be greatly appreciated.

2.0_Hippo > I take it from your comment, the answer is no - you have no ideas nor helpful suggestions!

"stroppy"? Not in the slightest. "noob" evidently, it's obvious from the initial post. Disappointed? Yes - I thought I could get answers here. "cheeky fecker"? ... Really?!?! Come on guys, could we be helpful not... Well, bitchy?

so.....

you have a sound that yu get regularly, but intermittently, and it didnt repeat itself for the dealership?

yu have had the vehicle for 2 weeks?

a dealership doesnt diagnose it from your description, yet yu expect us to?

you have two choices....

1) take it back and say you dont want the car back till the fault is fixed.
2) live with it till it is permanent.

its the CV joint or a drop link, or a disk pad or something else.

Chuck it back at the dealer, sale of goods act, not of merchantable quality, covered for 6 months.

Could it be a sticking Break calliper?
That is freeing itself off under thus(popping noise) when the wheel is under sidewise load(turning right)?

Is it 3 years old yet?
If so, it may be worth while taking it for an MOT and explaining to the MOT guy your concerns regarding the noise!
Then/ if he finds a fault, you can take it back to the dealer, get them to fix the fault they couldn't find!
And get them to re-Fund the £30 for the MOT.

It's worth a go!

Good luck

Oh and stick with us, it's a good forum and we like to take the Micky, but we do help each other out in the end
