Cleaning inlet....whats meant to come out?

While the heads off I set about cleaning the inlet, alongside the gunky tar like ****e stuck inside there was a massive clump of the same tar like substance rolling around inside.

How much crap is supposed to come out of a 150k mile inlet? Dont think its been cleaned before

not too much unless its fitted with egr

It did have EGR until it was deleted about 3 years ago...I cant see the inley mani have ever being cleaned before!

I'd like to think so! Put it this way, I had to break it up inside so it could fit out of the intake lol

What's the best way to clean these things out properly, James?
I seem to remember Mr. Noisy mentioning something about getting them in a hot tank?

i use my steam cleaner ,but you could soak it in petrol or paraffin and use a good bottle brush
