Greetings friends and enthisiasts- I am thinking about buying an M plate 3.9V8 classic rangey- its got 90K on the clock, 3 owners and comes with a years MOT.
I've always had series landys but wifey and sprog force a comfy motor.
Would appreciate any advice, stories or user reports on the classic- I am very keen but dont want heart to rule head!
Thanks in advance!

Don't forget the electrics!! Oh and have a good look underneath - diff seals, gearbox/transfer box seals, core plugs. Do drive it and make sure the ABS behaves (if fitted). Check all steering linkages, ball joints wear and can go unnoticed.
Cheers- Good info- the ball joints are a worry!

Ive had my 95M 3.9 v8 10300miles for a year now and its cost my £800 in repairs bills for parts and labour, Ive replaced the following since getting mine so check the one you see off the following list

All discs
All pads
All shocks (air ones cost 3 times that of coil sprung)
All brake lines (steel now copper)
All brake flexie hoses
service kit (plugs, leads, oil air & fuel filters, oil 6.5 ****ing litres)
Rear mud flap brackets
Alu top tailgate

The car cost me £1500!!!!!

But who cares its one of the best drive ive ever had, comfort, style, driving position.

Mores to the point there is 14" of snow here and im the only person in the street that has had there car out today. standard road 205/80/16 tyres

cheers both- am taking the chancellor of the exchequer wiv me to **** him roond the head wiv her handbag !! a grand an not a penny more. its a nice one though !!

Had a '91 Vogue SE, 3.9 for 4years, had all the bells and whistles-without the problems except the slipped liner problem and the usual front swivels. Put a new short lump in to her and ran like a dream.
When it comes down to reliability and fixability, they put the P38 to shame.
Best of luck.

Cheers all- will put an update on tomoz evening an some pics if I buy her!
Will be a change from the succession of series landies we've had!

RUST ON THE BODY.it aint like a series.dig out the wheel arches and body mounts.the ushal chassis points.
The eletrics will need a poke.See if wires have become brittle in the engine bay.these wagons get hot.

Good one- theres a bit of rust on the black front bumper and the same on the rear bumper but not too bad- from the quick look i had this morning I couldnt see any rust on the body, wheel arches or sills. The only thing I dont like is the rusty bumper and theres a wee bit of damp on the seat belts in the rear and on the rear leather. Thats a bit strange too.!!

Well Rover lovers, saw the beast this morning and its very very nice. All screwed together neat not been off road, used to belong to a Dr who spent a bit on it- agreed a price of £1295 with a years MOT- picking it up next weekend hopefully, if all goes well at the testers....fired up a treat, even after being frozen all night (-5 here) and I'm afraid the V8 rumble sold it on the spot.... so here we go into the wonderful world of classic Rangey ownership...hmmmm....anythings better than the last ser3!!
Thanks and regards to you all, pictures to follow!!
