I plugged my tom tom in the other day and the cigar lighter is dead , does anyone know if its fused and if so where is the fuse, also there is a broken tab inside so I really need to replace it , but I cannot work out how to remove the assembly, any help much appreciated.

Buy an A to Z an learn to map read coz a tomtit may take you over an uneven road or even worse a gravel track and then you would be pretty gaf****umped wouldnt you ! also it may encourage you to stop smoking, that is if you do ? or, you could jus plug into the rear socket.

Fuse 10 which is in the Interior Fuse Box (below the steering wheel) supplies the cigar lighter. Removing the cigar lighter is a bit of a pain. You have to remove the rear section of the front console then the front part from it, unclip the bulbholder from the side, depress the plastic retaining clips above & below lighter body & push lighter out from behind. If the fuse cures it and the socket is useable I'd be tempted to leave well enough alone otherwise good luck.

At the risk of stating the flipping obvious, the cig. lighter socket is only live when the ignition's switched on. ;)

It's a PITA, and the first vehicle I've owned that's like that

As for sat. nav. taking you over a gravel or uneven road, what's the problem with that? It's a Land Rover innit?

I get so peed off with people who are too tight to buy a tomtom and only ever used tesco economy satnavs saying they are all ****e based on their experience of cheap tat..

if you know how to use them tomtoms are fing ace... the only time they ever let you down is if you don't know how to use them or don't have enough info about your destination to programme it... not like the cheap **** that will drive you off the edge of a cliff cos the map inside it is 100 years old and geocoded badly in the first place
