checking wiring from xyz switch

I have been told to check the wiring from my xyz switch,because of problems starting and m&s lights flashing,i have had it over the pit but cant see the wiring beyond the connectorplug from xyz switch,would it be easier to take out the centre console ,i believe the wiring loom is about 2 feet long and can get cut or pinched.
