Hi all,

Can anyone tell me where is a good place to buy a new winch cable for my warn from?

I've done a search on here n all before you say "FFS do a search" etc etc lol.

Cheers

yer but who the feck realistically does that apart from the health and safety freaks :)

most people are of the "awww, i been fine" attitude. myself included!

After all the talk about the dangers of Wire Rope that goes with winches, I find it abit strange how someone would not regualy check the condition of the cable that could effectivly slice their head off, we owe safety not just to ourselfs but to others as well.

It should become part of your maintance schdule, you check all the stuff like tyres, oil, water ect ect, as it has been said on here it take minutes to do before each use.

And the choice of Dyneema would lead to a check just as much to look for friction burns, heat damage to the rope from the drum, abbration and cuts damage from dirt and mud.

All in all its a trade off from one type to another, I know people that use synthetic rope/strap and I know that use the wire rope, I am in the market for a winch at the moment but cant decide which type to get steel or Dyneema and have come to the conclusion that it dont matter which rope you get, you still need to do the maintance/checks no matter how much of a health and safety freak you are.

so you want more proper than the whole of google?

Did you actually click on your own link and see all the "helpful" results you get? I've already Googled it many times!

I thought one of the helpful members of this forum may be able to say:

"Hi! I got my winch cable from XXX for £XX and it's great you should get one!"

And I could then say:

"Oh thanks mate that's a great help, I've not been a member long, though have searched the forum for posts about winches and have also searched Google for places that sell winches, and also 4x4 shops, with no avail. Not having had my Landy more than a few months, I've not yet built up a catalogue of knowledge on the subject of places that may sell such things so therefore have to ask others with greater knowledge than myself!"

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case.

:)
