Dose anyone know is there realy any point treating chassis to stop the rot. After some research i have come across some stuff called por 15 wich sounds like the dogs b####ks.Well the waxoil i used before dont seem to have had much affect well apart from it passing its mot due to being coverd in the stuff.I noticed some pealing so wire brushed it and found hole.Only i heard mention that they rot from inside. So my guestion is there a point as you are covering potential problems.

After four years of being warned of chassis rot on my D2 at the MOT time, I have finally had a new chassis put on mine. I hope to pick it up on Wednesday, complete with a new MOT - WITHOUT the warning - and look forward to seeing/feeling the difference.

Was that a full lenth chassis or just the rear piece. Mine is a 04 plate and seems solid at the moment.

Mine is W reg yr 2000 and it started to show rust about 4 yrs ago. It then silently progressed, rotting from the inside out, and it was only when the lacework appeared that it became obvious that it was not going to pass this years MOT. I am not able to do any work myself so it is garage all the time. I do have a couple of mechanics that I really trust and they have looked after mine since i abandoned the main dealer (that is a story in itself!) when the service book was filled up!
It is a full, new, galvanised one and the man doing it has already done several others. It was going to cost me quite a bit to just have parts of the old one cut out and welded up so I decided to bite the bullet and go for a new chassis.

04, you should be able to do sumot wi that, im gonna do mine when it warms up, loads of wax oil and oil, inside more than out, fire the stuff every where!! ****ty job but well worth it,

I have a 1999 TD5 and up to now the chassis looks all good, gonna get under and treat inside and out after my holidays in the next few weeks, but looking at some of the horror stories on this particular model of chassis, me thinks its time to learn how to mig weld properly, done a bit but more stick welding than anything else.
