makeing the box was easy, first time using a mig welder and its a lot easyer than arc welding. spent all day today fitting section to car, this was so easy as the metal was dirty and the location was difficult, also the box section does not fit as well as I thought.
I will upload some photos of the finnished job soon.
I would rather fit a complete rear end new like you can do on the defenders, I'm hoping Richards chasssis come up with one, they have the artical on disco chassis in May addition of landyzone, can't wait to read it
 
sorry writing mistake on last post, suppose to say NOT easy fitting box to car. whish it was easy.

check out you tube for mig welding examples, this helped a lot, also you will need to research mig welders to get the best one for your money. Gas is expensive but in the end if you have a lot of work over a couple of years it will pay for itself. I used a full bottle of argon gas from Adams hobby gas. this included my testing. If you are seriouse about having a go, get a clear welding ask from ebay. this makes life a lot easyer

well most sites books and colleges that i have spoke to say use Argon mix CO2 as it gives the better mix, you can use pub co2 gas but spites more and if you are new to mig welding would make things more difficult.

I bought a supermig 150 from workshopping.co.uk. it had some good reviews. the clarks model for the same price had to many bad reviews. depending on your budget, so far i found this welder is very good up to 3mm steel. the power settings are not well explained but you can get to grips with it quickly. this web site is great for a beginner to read.

thats an impressive looking bit of welding you`ve done to your d2 chassis. says someone who is going down a simillar route to your self. i did buy a clarke 150 last november on a vat free day. have done a small bit of chassis welding and made up a rack for a motorbike. the thing i struggle with is keeping the weld pool on line with the joint. probably need more light on the job.
