 Hi, anybody got an easy way to remove the crankshaft pully so's i can change the timing belt (300tdi) Cheers, hairy.

apparently you can lock the fly wheel if you have a tool- ill find out when mines done at the weekend!

no need to lock the flywheel, just put socket (1 1/16" same size as wheel nuts) onto a long breaker bar wedge it up against the chassis and turn the engine over by the key just a small amount of cranking is required (having first pulled the wire off the injector pump for the fuel solenoid), this will undo the bolt enough for you to remove by normal method

If your careful you can fit a socket and bar on the nut wedging the bar against the chassis. AND THEN DISABLE THE ENGINE SO IT CANNOT START!! And turn the ignition key, this has never failed on other cars I have worked on. Did I mention.......AND THEN DISABLE THE ENGINE SO IT CANNOT START!! ooops you beat me to it Stig

regards

Dave
