Hi All,

Can you change the idling speed, without having to map the ECU?? I have tried searching it but there's know yes/no answer. Mine's a 2.5 DSE BMW Diesel. And I have the dreaded Dual Mass Flywheel problem. And I notice it goes away if I raise the idle slightly with my foot.

Any help would be great!!

Thanks
Dan

Thanks, I did look for the throttle cable but, couldn't see it, then again It wasn't a good look. I take it, its under the inlet manifold and that you have to take that off to see it?? Mines a P38 Range Rover

Testbook does give the option to alter the hot idle speed on 2.5 BMW diesels, not done it for several years,it was set up to get rid of nasty resonating vibrations.

The diesel is fly by wire so as eightinavee said it needs pluging in to change idle speed or do as I did to cure mine fit new DMF, but I was having to fit a new clutch anyway !

Thanks for the help people,

Can you help me out with the Fly By Wire?? What's that exactly??

I would love to change the DMF but its going to cost around £700-800 fitted with a new clutch. I'd rather try the idle first
