My first week as a Range Rover owner and all in all a fairly good week. I will summarise in my normal florid manner with a few headings because I love the sound of my own typing.

What Have I learned
I have learned that I absolutely lurve my Range. I love the way it drives, the way it looks, the way it sounds and so on. This is actual love.
I have learned that it is more like piloting a boat than driving, corners are sharper and roundabouts a lot smaller in a Range, and not many people clean the roof of their cars properly.
I have learned (learning really) to drive slower and to waft around a bit more instead of rush everywhere. I have learned to love driving again.
I have also learned that I will never be rich with a Range Rover. I had a call from Bill Gates the other day asking if he could borrow £20 for petrol.

What do I regret?
That I never got one of these beasties a while ago, that I am (thus far) too scared to take her off road, she has a magnetic attraction to petrol stations and I regret that I didn't try harder at school,( instead of spending all my time try to attract Beverley M's and Sarah M's, Debbie T's... attention.) I regret not trying harder at work, ( instead of trying to attract Chantalle B's, Helen J's, Alison W's, Sue B's... etc attention) and I regret I never tried harder in life ( Instead of trying to attract Katie W, Toni N's, Anita G's, Carol G's... etc attention.)
Had I tried a little harder maybe I could have had a newer Range Rover. (probably not an Evoque)

What have I spent?
So far, obviously the £%@#&" for the car in the first place which i thought was okay. Plus £240 for a new spare key, £200 for the re-installation of the LPG system. Plus £600 for a new set of Goodyear Wranglers ( Tyres not jeans) Plus £10 for a large tin of black hammerite paint. Plus whatever a weather strip for the drivers door/ window will cost. Plus whatever a respray for the bonnet will cost. That is to say nothing about the transmission service that I am going to have done, and the engine service that I will have done.

What is my conclusion.
To paraphrase Charlton Heston
" I will give you my Range Rover keys when you can pry them from my cold dead hands"

I told you, it's love.

So it starts. Just cleaned the Range Rover, checked the oil and water and sprayed a few bits under the bonnet with WD40 ( basically anything with an electrical connection including the LPG control) and now the engine management light is on.
I have a theory that cars do NOT like being cleaned.
I was checking the lights, everything was on and working when the car switched over to LPG and died. Started okay, but when it switched over to LPG it coughed and farted and was less than happy. I took her off LPG and gave her a run and she seemed fine so I switched over to LPG manually and everything worked well.
I also wonder whether there is an alternator problem as this would be the first time that I have run the car with all lights and electrical systems running.

Anyway. I am going to get a diagnostic tool. ( One or two of you may well be suggesting that I am a tool, I can take that ) So can anyone recommend the right one for my broom-broom.

Alternator check: start car, switch heads and anything electrical on and measure voltage across battery at 2000rpm. It should be over 14V.
