Morning ,

I replaced all 4 tyres to my FL 1 about 4 years ago and with it going in for an Mot it’s failed on 1 tyre. Now I’ve read and been told I can’t use the spare to replace the bold tyre as it will mess up the Lrd / Vcu of this is the case why have a spare on the rear ? Any advise would be much appreciated

First off, is the spare an identical tyre to the other 4 on the car? If not, then you can't use it anyway.
If the spare is odd, then get that replaced with an identical tyre to the other 4. Then get the bald tyre replaced, again with an identical tyre. Then put both new tyres on the back, moving the 2 remaining part worn tyres to the front.
This is acceptable, and won't cause unacceptable strain to the AWD system.

It's most important that you only use identical tyres as replacements, and the least worn go on the back. ;)

Cheers Nodge , it’s a FL mind. Yep I bought 5 brand new identical tyres 4 years ago and never had to use the spare. Now to get it through the Mot as my new tyres are a week or so away am I best to put the new spare to the rear and take the rear to the front as that’s the one that failed. It’s only to drive it 3 miles to the test centre to get the Mot cert on Monday.

If the spare is identical and new, then put it on the back, along with the best of the others.
Put the 2 worst tyres on the front, and the MOT failure on the spare carrier.
That'll get you through the MOT.;)
