12 Volt 12v 300W Ceramic Fan Heater Marine Motorhomes Car Boats Caravans etc | eBay

Any one had any experience with one of these. Are they worth the money?
Do they actually push out any heat?

Following on from that other thread on here detailing the fitment of an extra heater blower and matrix I then read about this sort of electric heater.
As a new owner I'm getting to realise that warmth and Defender don't go together and I need to add more heat somehow.

I too would like to know if this type of heater is any good and worth the extra wonga this seems to be asking for?
Found it here, a little cheaper too.....

Not sure 300 watts would make a lot of difference in a draughty defender, just think how much heat a 300w hairdryer would give out? maybe ask in the freelander section...only joking....I has a freelander too.

Just my two penneths worth..although be interested to hear if anyone has actually tried one

I had one of those in my old disco when the heater broke and yes it does make a hell of a difference, they do put out a reasonable amount of heat, takes a little while to build up but they do work. Ratty has one in his landy anorl.

They've certainly gone up a lot in price since I bought mine. Not sure I'd spend that much on one.

Mine stops me from freezing to death when it snows. It also speeds up defrosting the windscreen too. It worked faster in my previous 110 which was a van but it had a solid ply partition behind the front row seats. Mounted on there it would defrost the windscreen in minutes. My current landy has a solid partition behind the second row seats and again it is mounted on that. It takes much longer to defrost the screen but I find that by having the fan speed down lower it kicks out a noticeable amount of heat. If you are static with the windows close it can keep my landy toasty without the need for the main heater.

I bought mine a long time ago but I swear it was only summit like £35:confused:

I paid a bit more than you but nowhere near £82, funnily enough all this talk of heaters recently reminded me it was in the shed, so I put it on ebay last week and it went for £80:D.

It's your money you make your own choices. All I can say is it worked well for me.

£80  Guess what I'm listing tomorrow? :D

Mine certainly stopped me freezing to death a few times but found it next to useless while on the move. Perhaps it was just mine but the fan seemed useless and while I could defrost my fingertips defrosting the screen was a joke. The much smaller 100w one I had was better for that as it would just about sit on the dash and blow across the screen

Bought a simple one from Maplins for use in the ol Motorhome that has a **** heater (the 110 by comparrison is bliss) for about £15.

It does actually nake a difference so long as we have curtains drawn behind the cab.
They do deforst windows really well too, but note they are around 15A and standard sockets are rated at around 10A.
I wired in an auxillary 16A socket straight off the battery, works well and use it every winter, but still keep ya hat and gloves handy too.
