Hi all,
has anybody here replaced their centrifugal oil filter housing?
I was servicing my Td5 undid the bolts on the the housing and one sheared just below the head,so the rest is stuck in the alloy housing.
I have a complete spare housing so I was going to swap them out and then attempt to drill the snapped bolt out when I have it on the bench and recycle it having seen the cost of a brand spanker.
Any of you guys done this particular job,or have any pointers on things to maybe look out for whilst I have the other bits off?
Cheers.

sounds like its was over tightened, they are a doddle to change, they are only hand tight on a 3/8 ratchet.
have a look on ebay get a used one, with good threads, they are ali so even if you have a pillar drill with super sharp bits and surgeons hand the scarf can bugger the ali threads,

Best option is turn it out with a stud extractor / screw drill bit thingy....

Sorry about that, and thanks for the reply.
I have a spare complete centrifugal filter housing,I was wondering how difficult it was to remove the existing one,I have the workshop manual and can see what I will have to remove when I get there it's just the getting there,I have the confidence to swap it out,I was just hoping one of you infinitely more experienced guys may of posted a dot to dot for us less experienced types. As you can see I have difficulty posting a reply lol.
