Mrs had the car tonight and got the ignition disabled again (always when she has the car) so I spoke her through the twice left 3 times right routine on the phone and manage get it started. The problem is now the key wont lock the car via the remote and when you lock it via the key it disables the ignition all the time. Aint a problem in that i can do the routine to get it going easy but is a pain in the ass all the beeps etc.Anyone know how i get the remote to open it ??? I normaly locked it by the key then pressed the remote whilst still in the lock and it would reset the remote but aint happening this time help please

I had a prob once where it wouldn't lock or start. I just left it for an hour and it worked again! Maybe it sort of reset itself? As to the engine disabled thing mine does that ( mainly in the petrol station) all I do is take out the key press the unlock button on the fob and it starts.

You should normally press one of the buttons on the remote and then within 30secs insert the mechanical key in the door lock and turn it to resync the fob.You appear to be doing it backwards.

Which model RR

The question is why did it require the EKA code in the first place.
Do you have the latest RF receiver installed?
Are you sure your key remote is actually working?

is the red light flashing on ypur remote? have you tried putting in in with the open botton pressed and turn to open then the same with lock ? have you tried putting the key in turning it to number two and pressing the open botton?

I have tried the key in the ignition and pushing the open button but that does not work . I will try the unlock lock while holding the buttons tomorrow. Yes the red led works fine new batteries about 3 months ago .

My '97 did the same over Christmas. The problem is the RF receiver gets so flooded with signals that it can't react to the correct one. Disconnecting the RF antenna might get you out of the crap but is by no means a 100% fix. Mine only stopped doing it when i replaced the receiver.

I just been out to the car and tried all the moves suggested but still won't work. It seems locking the car with the key then opening it with the key is causing the ignition to disable every time next move is as you suggest disconnect the RF receiver. I know it is in the boot area right hand side where exactly is it and what wire do I disconnect ? I will try that tomorrow .i have left it unlocked tonight so I don't wake the neighbours with all the beep beeps in the morning

Put the rear seat forward. Then pop off the clips holding on the right hand rear facia in the boot. I think there is a screw at the seat end which needs to be removed as well. The top shelf will pop off with some persuasion. The RF receiver is at the seat end and the aerial is the blue wire (I think). To be sure just trace it and it should go to the single vertical yellow line on the rear side window.

Cheers JT will try that tomorrow mate. Might pop to the auto sparky across from work tomorrow he helped me out when I first bought the car when battery in fob went flat he must have re synced the fob then. I kinda think your right thought the RF has been over scrambled this time. It normally happens when I'm at the petrol station but always re syncs but not this time

As I posted earlier ,check your RF receiver is the latest version!.If not you will eventually have the BECM go into the "alarmed state" one day and then it will require removal of the BECM and software unlocking of the BECM to reset it by a specialist.
Also remember the fob sync procedure is different from MY96 as they have friendly resync procedure.ie coil around ignition switch and simply installing a working fob in ignition switch resyncs it.

Sounds like your RF receiver is playing up. Beware, it can go mad and burn out the door lock motors. Leaving mine unlocked is not an option, it auto locks after a short time all on it's own, never quite worked out the exact conditions that cause it but it is mentioned in the hand book. It's taught me never to leave the FOB in the car! Fortunately I have 2 FOB's.

Thought maybe after a run to work may have sorted it but nah.do u recon if I disconnect the RF receiver I'll be able to get the key to sync again ? I have tried all the moves mentioned in my post replies but none have been able to get the fob to open the door. Seems if I lock it with the key it automatically puts the engine into disabled mode. If I take key out of ignition get out car close door without locking ,open it again it will restart however at the garage tonight without locking it the engin went into disabled mode. Doing my head in !!!

If you disconnect the RF receiver it will definitely not sync. You must leave the RF rec connected and just disconnect the wire from the RF rec to the antenna in the right side rear window.
It sounds as if your RR has passive immobilisation enabled if you get engine disabled without locking the RR.What MY is your RR?.
You say it happened at the "garage".Do you mean petrol station. If so there is probably excessive RF radiation at that location causing your issues.I sse a latestversion RF receiver in your future:scratching_chin::scratching_chin:

Mozz talked me through how to sync the key to the ignition and then to the door however did not work kept loosing the little. Red light on the key fob . So to cut a long story short I built 1 good fob from the 2 I have and the light worked good . So he talked me through the set up again and hey presto all works fine . So I need to get a fob repair kit pronto . He also suggests like others have suggested to get an updated RF receiver from emmots, which I will do ASAP. Can't thank Mozz enough he spent about 30 mins or more on the phone helping me . Top bloke cheers again mate
