Hi
I have a 1988 RR (no central locking on tailgate) with a central locking problem. Almost every time I shut the drivers door the Sill Button (lock release button) drops slightly but sufficiently enough to activate the central locking. What is likely to be causing this problem?
Thanks

There is a spring in the latch that gets weak, discos have same problem. Try looking at the adds at the back of LRO magazine there is a guy that sells replacement springs for discos and rangies.

The only spring I can see is attached to the internal handle, I have checked this and it seems to be working fine.

I checked the actuator by moving the bar directly attached to it in and out and it worked fine so I moved the plate it is mounted on as far to the right as possible and now although the button still drops slightly, it only locks the drivers door and does not activate the central locking on the other doors. So it looks to me as it is maladjusted or worn linkages as Saint.V8 suggested. Is it possible to adjust these insitu or does the lock mechanism have to be removed?
Thanks

You may be able to adjust in situ, and that would be the best option as you will be able to test the adjustments on the car rather than having to keep removing and refitting to adjust and check!
