Hi all,
Got an annoying problem with immobiliser/central locking on my TD5.
Unlocks/locks when it feels like it on the key fob... Changed batteries in both key fobs and still it seems it will lock or unlock when it feels like it. Never had this problem before today..
HELP:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Dont sound like it's the fob thats the problem.

You'll need to check the vehicle electrics ;)

Vehicle electrics are not my strong point so it looks like its gonna get expensive... Can lock and unlock it with key but this does not turn off immobiliser so alarm goes off all the time..

When you say it Unlocks/locks when it feels like it..

Do you mean central locking only or does it arm the alarm too??

Arms the alarm too...So if you just unlock it with the key as soon as you open the door alarm goes off...
Wife has just sorted it though...Bless her...She found a EKA reset code proceedure on the web and everything is fine now...
Apparently this code works on a multitude of land Rovers...Did,nt she do well...:):):):):):)

Post the procedure for the rest of us please

the procedure is explained in RAVE but i'll post it for you to save time, here it is (attachment)

@Splasher > your problem seems to be generated by the receiver or a bad contact/earth though... check this link and verify everything(disregard the frequency range cos the rest is the same)

1. http://www.landroverclubvi.com/uplo...odule_troubleshooting_and_upgrade8610nasf.pdf

when they say "testbook" you can read nanocom/hawkeye(etc) too

untill you diagnose and fix the problem make somehow to get it plugged in a tester and set the BCU /Alarm mode on "Always" which means it will always disarm with key no matter how it was locked...otherwise you will have to enter EKA all the time

My TD 5 has just developed the exact same problem. It is the same with both key fob's but seems to be related to moisture and or cold as it only appears to happen on wet mornings after the vehicle has been driven.

You could try extending the wire that is the receiver antenna for the alarm/immobiliser. If you take it to the top of hte A pillar it should improve the range greatly.

Thanks Ratty but its not a range problem. It will work fine one day (from 20 yards) and not at all the next. It's very frustrating as the truck wont unlock / start when you need it most.

Should have bought a Toyota!

:(... what in the "INCONSISTENT OPERATION OF HANDSET OR FAILURE TO UNLOCK VEHICLE" (like the title of that bulletin) doesnt fit with this problem??? :hurt:

Not completely as they say it tends to happen when the vehicle has stood for a while or at least overnight. I can drive to the shop, come out 5 minutes later and have the problem but it’s the closest scenario so far.

I don't have sun roofs so water ingress is unlikely. Maybe it’s the interference thing causing it to go into sleep mode but it seems the only solution for that is to change the receiver. I don’t want to be changing expensive electronic components unnecessarily so have booked it in on Monday for a health check. May also get to the bottom of the 3 dings after start (ABS malfunction). Then there is the "clunk" noise from the front AND rear suspension when changing direction - sounds like lots of money!!!

Thanks, very useful (but sounds expensive!!). It all worked perfectly this morning but when I got home after the school run it wouldnt lock with the remote (so the symptoms are not exactly as described). I left it for 5 minutes and it locked and unlocked normally again.

Agreed, I will start there. Many thanks.

BTW, if I buy a new (updated) receiver any idea where should I get it from? I have been warned not to buy such items from Ebay.

Cheers, thats great and not as expensive as I thought. I may just put a new one in anyway. Very helpful.:)
