Trying to get my '97 Disco 300tdi Esquire that I bought in Germany, registered in France without getting ripped too badly.

Here's the thing, I've done all this before with no problems, but that was a few years back & in Brittany, now living in Rhone-Alpes region & they're being a royal pita.

I can send €180 (yes you read that right) to LR france for a certificate of conformity that may (or may not) be complete. If not then I have to go to the relevant govt place & have ministry inspection etc etc.

The relevant govt office is now DREAL, (don't get me start on Froggy gov acronyms or we'll be here all week) local one WILL NOT give me a national certificate which costs €67 even though they have all the information on a national database.
So I contacted the DREAL where I used to live & they were most helpful, yes they still do them, they e-mailed me the application in pdf.

The problem I now have is that I need the E number that's on the VIN plate on a 98 onwards motor but mines & 97 & doesn't.

So any of you in France with a 97-99 Disco 300tdi can you have a look under the bonnet on the VIN plate & tell me the number.
It'll look like this e_ _*_ _/_ _*_ _ _ _*_ _

The real arse about this is that I had all the relevant info but can't find it since we moved.

Thanks.
