Fitted a new starter motor on Tuesday and since then the CD multichanger won't work. The unit display comes up with "CD ERR 1", but the radio still works fine. It worked okay the day before the new starter motor, so would be a huge coincidence if it's screwed immediately after.

If anyone has any quick fixes would be appreciated. Now going to check all relevant fuses. I've also obtained a 603 page PDF manual on the entire electrics of the Freelander - all fuses, connectors, positions etc. That'll be a fun read if I can't solve it using my own initiative!!!

Thanks

If its the 6 changer unit under the seat. Take it out, unscrew the 6 screws, 2 each side, 2 on the back. Gently take the cover off, look for the white cog, I think its on top, gently turn it until the unit clicks and explells the CD tray. Screw it back together and put back in. Power up and re insert the tray.
It should now work fine.
If not its not my fault ;)

It's the multichanger behind the headunit!!! Was hoping it would be a common problem, but it seems not after hours of Googling it and finding sod all.

Hi kernow, I have ur problem. Cannot find a solution any where!
Looks like a trip to a dealer. Not cheap, don't suppose they will give us intell either?

It's the same unit as in a Fiesta from 2002 to 2006

Do a google search on the fault code with fiesta 2002 and see of there's any light from the Ford boys

The problem fixed itself after a few days. I was tearing my hair out and had run out of things to try, and all but given up. Then after just using the radio for a day or so hit the CD button and came back to life. Hopefully yours may do the same Firestar? Was it after a battery dis-connection??

Hi kernow, mine too self resett thank God!
Have found out recently, you should eject all cds before battery disconnection
Alledgedly ?
Thanks kernow.
