Carbon monoxide inside the car

We have a 2006 Discovery TD V6 HSE. My wife sometimes gets a headache when she drives the car, so we have put a carbon monoxide detector on the dashboard, which goes off occasionally. The car has been to Harwoods, who are the local main agents, for investigation and they can't find how the carbon monoxide is getting into the car. Has anyone heard of this before and if so how do we fix it, please?

On the assumption that this can only come from the exhaust there must be a leak somewhere. Might be worth partially blocking the exhaust to try and locate a leak but would have thought Harwoods would have thought of that.

I think I would be having a good look at the tailgate seals as flat rear ended vehicles often draw in fumes that way and obviously checking that exhaust has no leaks.

Thanks. Presumably these people will remove the CO from the bodies of the passengers rather stopping it from entering the car!

There was a piece on a well known fat boys programme a few weeks back and they were trying to find the source of a leaky door rubber in the vehicle (Aston Martin DB7).

A smoke machine was used and when the interior of the vehicle was filled with smoke it could be seen leaking out one of the window seals.

You could also check out the inner wing vents(think that's what you would call them), usually found behind the panels in the boot area, if one of these is open it could be getting in through there, you could always seal the one on the same side of the exhaust outlet with gaffa tape, they just stop compression building up in the rear of the car when a window is open.
