Did you get the head tested and skimmed?

If it only does it under load then the chances are that your rad is cream crackered. If it's overheating that quickly under normal driving, the first thing I would be checking is the thermostat.

hi we have had head skimmed and tested we have not got thermsta in and it does only do it when got the caravan on the back ???

we have head skimmed and tested it does only do it when got caravan on the back at the min we do not have a thermstat in as we got a cheep on i belive and it will not open when we put it in boiling water

oh i do not know then at the min it has not got one in how do u test one then it was £7 from our local car spares

if it aint in its not the cause of overheating ,you can test them by feeling top hose it wont get hot till thermostat opens ,warm it up and feel rad it is biggest cause of overheating i come across on 300tdi

Replace the water pump (it shouldn't have any play in it), whilst you are at it, do the P Gasket behind the water pump.

Squeeky water pump bearings / play in pump pulley are a tell tale signs of immanent pump failure indicating that the pump should be replaced asap. It may not be working at all, even! Fit a genuine Landrover Pump & P Gasket, as anything else is false economy. I know, I have changed BritPart Waterpumps every 20,000 miles over the years. A genuine pump will last for years.

Radiator: Are you loosing water at all? If so from the radiator....get new radiator.

Has the new head been correctly fitted? New head fitted at all ? Skimmed correctly?

Do you trust the garage ?

yer we have had it all new and skimmed and tested and yer we do trust garage we did have it checked after he did it by some one else we r just asking mechanice to do a NEW PUMP SO HOPE FULLEY IT WILL WORK HE IS ALSO REPLASING RAD
