Can I upload google maps to the satnav system?

Hello all,

I have recently bought a Landrover Discovery 3 TDV6 SE (54 plate)

What I would like to know is, is it possible to use an alternate operating system, such as Android with Googlemaps and load it on to the satnav system instead of needing to use the factory loaded satnav ?

The standard GPS won't support Android, or IOS, etc.
On a very low level it probably uses some cut-down version of Linux (which both Android and IOS are) but it will need specific drivers for the hardware at the very least.
Best option would be to replace the device. I would do this myself if I could find a better one to work with the stereo, DVD etc. as the current system is pants!
