as above im wondering if my odb2 socket for the eas is working or not?
is there a way of testing the pins inside socket somehow with a multimeter or something im trying to get a shot of laptop with serial port to do away with the serial to usb adapter i got as maybe this is faulty?
there was some green corrosion iside the pins i could see in footwell i have tried cleaning as best i could with small precision screwdriver but dont know if it works or not as i cant get software to sync?
any ideas

i have tried to clean as best i can with a precision screwdriver was at it an hour and they look better but was thinking maybe im wasting my time if theres something wrong with socket or wiring?

Get an aerosol of switch cleaner or contact cleaner from Maplin electronics, spray the pins then fit and remove your connector rapidly a few times. If the wires have not rotted off the back that will fix it.

so wd40 do same thing as point cleaner? all cables/wiring looks fine no corrosion or anything like that just seems to be the connections
