Greeting once more everyone!

Just had the lovley MOT time and turns out that I need some welding done to the 'rear chassis at the spring mounting area'

I just wondered if there was anyone on here close to the Dudley area that could recommend anyone to do the welding. I would rather go with a recomendation than just take a guess.

Most other things that it has failed on I can do myself but welding I can't.
I think the idiots in the garage were ready to condem the old Disco to the scrap yard. They looked on in disbelif when I mentioned I could do most of the work myself.

They gave me an advisory note of an oil leak to which I replied the old classic line of 'I don't have an oil leak its just Rover has not been in this garage before so he is simpliy marking out his territory'

I belive this went over their heads somewhat........!:D

Thanks everyone!

" Nearside rear (Chassis) Suspension spring mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded"
Same for Offside rear as well.

You see this is one of the problems I have. The bloke in the MOT pl;ace would show me when he had cleared his ramp in about 45mins time.... trouble is I was at work and could not hang around to see how bad it is.

I hate to say it but long term it's a good idea to learn to weld - after £500 last year thats what I've done - I'm not saying I'm good cos Im not, but the basic ability has saved my disco from the scrapyard after a recent crash, over the past 3 weeks I've had to repair/'replace:-
headlamp mount panel
BOTH inner wings
repair both the drivers and the passenger foot wells
sil bracket
I was quoted £2800 :)hysterically_laughi) by one garage to repair it after the crash - me I took their money and am doing meself.

Yeah I agree with you. Just need the space to be able to learn to weld and to keep the stuff etc.

At mo I have no garage. Perhaps I can convince the Mrs it would be cheaper to move house in the long run :p
